After over eight years at Liverpool, Jürgen Klopp is set to leave the club.

His departure will inevitably lead to numerous changes within the English club.

Brought in to fill the immense void left by Sadio Mané, Darwin Núñez has struggled to find his place in the Reds’ squad.

After two seasons and nearly 100 matches in a Liverpool jersey, the 1.87-meter-tall striker may already be saying goodbye to the English club.

With 18 goals and 13 assists in 52 matches this season, the player has not met all the expectations placed on him.

Despite the trust shown by Klopp, the former Benfica player has failed to establish himself. Quickly compared to Erling Haaland when they both arrived in the Premier League, the Manchester City player has soared, while Núñez has not followed the same trajectory.

Two years later, their rivalry in the Premier League could be coming to an end. The Uruguayan striker is being courted by Spain’s FC Barcelona.

According to the Spanish newspaper Sport, Barça is interested in Darwin Núñez. The two sides had already met during a Champions League match in 2021, where Benfica defeated the Catalan club 3-0, with a brace from the Uruguayan.

Moreover, on the 24-year-old player’s Instagram account, all photos showing him in the Reds’ jersey have been deleted. On Núñez’s social media, only pictures with the national team or his former clubs remain.

The split between Liverpool and Darwin Núñez seems almost inevitable.
