In the coming months, David Beckham could face jeers from the Man Utd crowd if he returns to Old Trafford.
The former English international has dared to praise a significant figure from his club’s arch-rival.
Between Man Utd and Liverpool, the rivalry is massive, and supporters from both sides never miss an opportunity to taunt each other.
Both teams are considered the two biggest teams in the UK, and their rivalry is long-standing.
Thus, it’s very rare to see a player leave one of these two clubs to join the other.
Also, when you’re identified as belonging to one club, speaking positively about the other club is frowned upon. David Beckham, a product of Man Utd, has decided to break that rule and has been very complimentary towards an important figure from Liverpool.
The former winger has lavished praise on Jürgen Klopp, the former Liverpool manager who recently left the club after nine years at the helm.
“Even though I’m a Manchester United fan, I admire Jürgen Klopp’s character, personality, and contribution to football.
Some Manchester United fans will be angry with me, but I’m saddened to see him go. What he has done for Liverpool is priceless,” said the former Real Madrid player about Jürgen Klopp.
