During the last summer transfer window, Lucas Hernandez left Bayern Munich to join PSG under Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. However, the French defender recently suffered a serious knee injury. Out of the Euros in Germany, Lucas Hernandez is set to be replaced by Ferland Mendy, a player from Real Madrid.
After four seasons of good and loyal service, Lucas Hernandez departed Bayern to join PSG. Indeed, the Parisian club spent around €45 million to secure the services of the 28-year-old defender.
Lucas Hernandez is out of the Euros Unfortunately for Lucas Hernandez, he won’t be able to finish the season with PSG. The French international suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Borussia Dortmund on May 1st. As a result, Lucas Hernandez is already certain to miss the Euros in Germany this summer.
Ferland Mendy called up for the Euros? This Thursday evening, Didier Deschamps will announce his list of players called up for the Euros. And to cover for Lucas Hernandez’s absence, the French coach is expected to call upon Ferland Mendy. However, it will be necessary to wait until June 1st – the date of the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund – to find out if the Merengue left-back will be fit to join the French squad before their trip to Germany.
