Real Madrid’s Brazilian teenager Endrick is being backed to make football history by UFC star Charles Oliveira.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Endrick has had a slow start in Madrid since joining the Spanish giants last summer, following his impressive performances for Palmeiras in his homeland. He has made 28 appearances in all competitions but has not been named in the starting XI for a La Liga match and has started only once in the Champions League.
THE CONTEXT
Madrid remains convinced of the young striker’s potential, and former UFC lightweight champion Oliveira was impressed by what he saw from his “humble” compatriot.
WHAT OLIVEIRA SAID
“It’s hard to say where someone will be or how great a player will be in the future. We don’t know the future. But Endrick is playing very well,” he told Oddspedia. “He played for Palmeiras and I saw him play several times. I also had the chance to meet him in the United States when he played for the national team. He’s very humble and I have nothing but respect for him. I hope he continues to make history.”
WHAT FUTURE FOR ENDRICK?
Despite his limited playing time in Spain, Endrick was called up to the Brazilian national team to replace the injured Neymar during the World Cup qualifying matches against Colombia and Argentina.
