The central defender of Real Madrid, Antonio Rüdiger, missed another Germany training session after straining a muscle in the last group stage match of Euro 2024 against Switzerland.
He trained separately in the gym while the rest of the team trained under coach Julian Nagelsmann. With just days before the round of 16, his situation is causing concern.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Rüdiger’s absence from the first training session ahead of the round of 16 against Denmark was expected. However, it remains uncertain if he will be absent next Saturday at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund for the round of 16.
The medical plan from the German Football Federation (DFB) aims for the Real Madrid defender, a key starter, to resume training by Thursday at the latest.
The next two days will therefore be crucial for Rüdiger from Casa Blanca. In case of his absence, Nagelsmann will have to completely restructure the rest of the defense.
It’s worth noting that the other starting central defender, Jonathan Tah, will miss the Denmark game due to accumulated yellow cards.
Other central defenders available to Nagelsmann include Niko Schlotterbeck, Waldemar Anton, and Robin Koch.
Additionally, Emre Can, who normally plays in midfield, has also played as a central defender at times during his career.
