Didier Deschamps’ days with the French national team, “Les Bleus,” seem more numbered than ever, according to several sources.

The recent elimination in the Euro 2024 semi-finals against Spain was not well received by the French Football Federation (FFF), which plans to terminate his contract, set to run until 2026.

In charge since 2012, Didier Deschamps has overseen 160 matches with “Les Bleus,” achieving 102 wins, 3 draws, and 28 losses.

Free of any commitments since his last stint with Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane is touted as the leading candidate to take over after Didier Deschamps. “Zizou” is a unanimous choice among French team supporters who see him as the right man for the job.

It seems likely that the former Juventus player will be on the sidelines starting from the next international break, scheduled for September.

Zidane’s coaching record

The former French national team captain has only managed one club throughout his coaching career.

Indeed, he had two spells with Real Madrid, the first between 2016 and 2018, and the second between 2019 and 2021.

He has overseen 263 matches, with 174 wins, 53 draws, and 36 losses.

Additionally, he has won 11 titles, including three UEFA Champions League editions.
