As the end of the year approaches, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is actively preparing the club’s future. As well as thinking about the next generation of recruits, he is also considering the succession to Carlo Ancelotti, whose departure at the end of the season seems likely.
At the recent Annual General Meeting, Pérez reaffirmed his confidence in the Italian coach. However, it is becoming increasingly clear that this could be Ancelotti’s last season in charge of Real Madrid, perhaps marking the end of his career on the bench.
Convincing victories over Osasuna (4-0) and Leganés (3-0) have temporarily eased tensions within the club. However, Florentino Pérez remains preoccupied by the need to find a replacement worthy of Real Madrid’s ambitions. If a departure is confirmed, several names are already circulating to take up the torch.
The leading candidate is Zinedine Zidane, who could make a third return as head coach. Xabi Alonso is also among the options, despite his contract with Bayer Leverkusen running until 2026. Another alternative would be Santiago Solari, the current sporting director, although his profile is seen more as a temporary solution.
However, Florentino Pérez seems to have a clear preference for Álvaro Arbeloa. A former club icon, Arbeloa is currently in charge of the Juvenil A team, with an impressive 80% win rate over the last five years. He is set to take charge of Real Madrid Castilla next season, succeeding Raúl González. His in-depth knowledge of young talents such as Diego Aguado, Jacobo, Joan Martínez, Fortea, Gonzalo, Chema, César Palacios, David Jiménez and Nico Paz makes him a serious candidate for the future.
So, Real Madrid continues to plan its future carefully, preparing for all eventualities on and off the pitch.
