On the evening of Tuesday, July 9, 2024, France played the semi-finals against Spain. Unfortunately, Didier Deschamps’ team did not achieve their goal.
Despite dominating in the first half, they were later caught up and ultimately outplayed. The match ended with Spain winning 2-1.
Towards the end of the second half, France had a chance to equalize, but Kylian Mbappé couldn’t work his magic. Ultimately, the French team was eliminated from the competition.
Reflecting on Mbappé’s performance at Euro 2024, Nabil Djellit stated, “Kylian Mbappé’s Euro was a disaster.”
After the match, the former teammate of Lionel Messi commented on the team’s performance, admitting they didn’t put in enough effort to reach the final.

Later, French team coach Didier Deschamps also spoke about his players’ performance, focusing particularly on Mbappé’s missed opportunity.
“It was a good chance for us to equalize. However, we faced a strong Spanish team.
… Obviously, there are things we could have done better against an opponent with good control and speed up front.
We had to manage several players with complicated situations. Against such quality, it’s difficult, even though we competed well.
We defended very well, but we didn’t have all our offensive weapons; we had to adapt… We aimed to be competitive but had our limitations,” he said.
