Luis de la Fuente, the coach of the Spanish national team, insists there can be only one winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or: his player Rodri.
The former coach of the Spanish U-21 team sees his vice-captain as the overwhelming favorite to win the prestigious award this year.
“Luis de la Fuente has spoken about the 2024 Ballon d’Or and left no chance for other players mentioned as potential winners.
“Rodri must be the Ballon d’Or winner. Please give it to him! He is simply the best player in the world,” declared the European champion coach. Indeed, Spain had an impressive tournament this year and were crowned champions on Sunday, July 14, 2024, against England.
Within Luis de la Fuente’s team, Rodri is clearly the playmaker, dictating the tempo for the Spanish national team.
The Manchester City player was also named the best player of the tournament at the end of the competition, and according to his coach, he also deserves the Ballon d’Or.
Rodri has been considered the world’s best defensive midfielder for several years now, thanks to his performances at club level.
This season, although the former Atletico Madrid player has been outstanding once again, not lifting the Champions League trophy could count against him with voters.
