Hansi Flick, the German tactician, has been confirmed as the head coach of Barcelona for the 2024-2025 season.

The former Bayern Munich coach replaces Xavi Hernandez, who was sacked at the last minute by Joan Laporta due to disagreements.

Flick’s mission is to bring trophies to the Catalan team in his first season at the helm of the club.

Barcelona had a trophyless season this year, which doesn’t sit well with the club’s executives despite their difficult economic situation.

Upon his arrival at Barça, Hansi Flick wasted no time in clarifying which players will be part of his squad next season.

The coach promptly visited the infirmary to check on the condition of injured player Frenkie De Jong. Following that, he also focused on those he does not want to see in his squad upon their return from vacation.

According to the Spanish press, Hansi Flick has informed the club’s executives that he does not intend to rely on French defender Clément Lenglet.

Returning from loan at Aston Villa in the Premier League, the French international will need to find a new destination quickly.

Saudi Arabia seems to be the only plausible option for the former Sevilla FC player due to his somewhat high salary for some European clubs.
