We now know a bit more about the surprising reason why Cristiano Ronaldo has not yet retired.
After a challenging Euro 2024 with only one assist to his name, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner reportedly does not want to end his career just yet and is waiting to play an official match with his son!
This is according to former Romanian striker Adrian Mutu, who had met with the Portuguese in May in Saudi Arabia.
More than a dream, it is now a real goal. ‘This is his true motivation. The fact that he wants to play an official match with his son is why he hasn’t retired yet,’ Mutu reported. But is it really feasible given his almost ghost-like Euro performance? ‘At Al Nassr, it’s possible. If he were at another team, I don’t know. At Real Madrid, it would be more difficult. But playing a match together, I don’t think it’s impossible,’ Mutu affirmed.
With zero goals and an elimination in the Euro quarter-finals, it’s the sad tally for Cristiano Ronaldo, who at 39 years old, exits an international tournament for the first time without scoring a goal. Does this call into question his international future?
