The Catalan midfielder from Getafe admits that his footballing origins wouldn’t prevent him from signing with the rival if the opportunity ever arose.

It’s rare for players trained at Barcelona to leave the door open to Real Madrid. Typically, La Masia graduates publicly assert that wearing the white jersey is simply inconceivable. Carles Aleñá, however, is an exception and doesn’t rule out the possibility of joining the Merengues.

The current Getafe midfielder, who came through FC Barcelona’s youth academy, confessed to being a “Culé for life,” while also stating that it wouldn’t be an issue if a hypothetical transfer to Real Madrid were to happen.

“It’s a great club.”

“I would never say no to a club like Real Madrid. It’s a great club, and I’ve always said that I wanted to play for a big team,” the Catalan said on the Vamos Show podcast. Aleñá, born 26 years ago in Mataró, a city close to Barcelona, also acknowledged that he understands players tempted by lucrative contracts who choose to move to Saudi Arabia. “They receive a lot of criticism, but I can understand that some players go to certain leagues to earn money.”

“It’s understandable; everyone decides what they want to do, and the importance of money is a reality. For me, at the moment, I want to play in Europe and achieve something significant in European competitions. But you also have to see yourself in that situation; I haven’t had that chance so far,” he stated.
