By signing with Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, Neymar bid farewell to European football after 10 years of playing for FC Barcelona and PSG last summer. Nevertheless, the Premier League remains an option for his future, as well as Brazil for a “wild frenzy” according to Djalminha, a former Flamengo player.
Neymar left PSG during the last offseason and joined Al-Hilal for a transfer fee of €90M. Contracted until 2025 with an option for an additional year, the 32-year-old Brazilian could take on another challenge outside of Saudi Arabia before hanging up his boots.
“I would like to see him in England”
Former Flamengo player, Djalminha confessed to L’Équipe that he would like to see Neymar play in the Premier League to test himself against the best. “Anything is possible. I would like to see him in England, to compete against the top talents.” Even though his wish is to see the Brazilian club go crazy with his potential signature. “But I would also like to see him come back to his homeland. If he signed with Flamengo, it would be an absolute frenzy.”
“He could experience a sort of permanent celebration in the country”
TV presenter André Rizek tells L’Équipe that Flamengo and Santos, Neymar’s youth club, dream of his return to Brazil. “If he were to come back, he could experience a sort of permanent celebration in the country. Flamengo fans, the richest club in South America, nurture this hope. Just like Santos.”
