Robin Le Normand, like Aymeric Laporte, chose to represent Spain rather than his native country, France. The Real Sociedad defender experienced the pinnacle of his career on Sunday evening by winning Euro 2024 with La Roja.

It was a historic fourth European title for the Spaniards. Euro 2024 concluded on Sunday night with Spain rightfully claiming victory. Luis De La Fuente’s team played the most attractive football in the tournament and deservedly took home the title.

"It's historic," he says after turning down the French team

One distinctive feature of this Spanish team was its central defense, comprising two… Frenchmen! Indeed, both Aymeric Laporte and Robin Le Normand were naturalized, having not been part of Didier Deschamps’ plans. The Real Sociedad defender was understandably overjoyed when addressing journalists. “My journey has been unconventional.”

Thanks to their final victory over England, Spain now boasts their 4th Euro triumph, an absolute record in the competition’s history. It’s a fitting reward for Robin Le Normand’s numerous sacrifices.

“It’s historic.”

“My journey has been unconventional. I hope it also shows that everyone deserves a chance, not just 18-year-olds. Players need time to develop. That’s what Real Sociedad did for me, and what Spain did. I’m immensely proud, very grateful for what they’ve given me. Today, I’m experiencing an incredible moment for myself, for my family. And it’s historic. They’ve suffered the most along my path. They’ve always supported me, lifted me up. Of course, I must thank Real Sociedad. They gave me my career. Imanol Alguacil (Real’s coach since 2018) has been instrumental. We’ve worked hard,” Robin Le Normand said in the mixed zone, speaking to Sud Ouest and Le Télégramme.
