José Mourinho, the Portuguese manager, attended the Champions League final between Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid and Edin Terzic’s Borussia Dortmund.
The former AS Roma manager clearly appreciated his former club winning the Champions League once again.
He even descended from the stands at the end of the match to greet the participants of the final and gave his opinion on the game.
Known for his playful nature, José Mourinho didn’t hesitate to take a little jab at his former La Liga rival, Pep Guardiola.
We all know that the Spaniard is nowadays considered the epitome of beautiful football. However, Portugal leans much more towards pragmatism.
A doctrine that aligns a bit more with that of Carlo Ancelotti, the jubilant coach of the final evening. The one who will probably take over the reins of Fenerbahçe from next season pointed out that it’s not necessarily beautiful football that triumphs.
“Carlo Ancelotti is not a social media coach, but a REAL COACH… Ask Real Madrid fans what they think of City’s possession or the first half of this match.
Ask them. They don’t sell a philosophy of play. They prioritize trophies over philosophy,” stated the Portuguese manager.
By mentioning the aspect of possession in his speech, there’s no doubt that José Mourinho wants to poke at Pep Guardiola, the manager of Man City.
