Kylian Mbappé wants to follow in the footsteps of LeBron James, one of, if not the, greatest basketball player in history.
At 40, LeBron James is still one of the best players on the planet. He continues to push the boundaries of age and is setting records with the Lakers, a franchise that can in some ways be compared to Real Madrid in football. And it’s a good thing, Kylian Mbappé is in Madrid while LeBron is in Los Angeles.
However, the comparison between the two men is not related to athletic performance. Relevo, with the EFE agency, believes that the Frenchman is following in the basketball player’s footsteps in his use of his image to his advantage and in his desire to diversify.
“Mbappé has an American-style sports culture, like LeBron James, who has invested in various business groups while continuing to be an active player,” explained Vincent Chaudel, a sports marketing expert.

In recent years, he has acquired a 10% stake in Loewe, a company specializing in sound and audiovisual equipment. He is also the majority shareholder of the Caen football club in France, allowing him to maintain a foothold in the professional sports industry.
His latest business venture was announced last week when, through his investment fund Coalition Capital, he announced his investment in the French SailGP team, which competes in high-speed sailing races. Also, two years ago, he launched his own production and distribution company, Zebra Valley, which works in sports, video games, and music.
Thanks to his investments, Kylian Mbappé is diversifying, and it’s safe to say that Paris Saint-Germain has helped him along the way. Following his contract extension in 2022, he received €72 million gross per season, more than double what he receives at Real Madrid (around €30 million gross excluding signing bonus).
