Barcelona star Lamine Yamal believes he has sent a message to his La Liga title rivals.

The Blaugrana enter the March international break with a 1-0 lead over Real Madrid in the head-to-head standings. Hansi Flick’s side also put in an incredible late performance away to Atlético Madrid, sealing a 4-2 victory.

Barcelona trailed 2-0 entering the final 20 minutes, but the game turned around as Diego Simeone’s side were unable to respond. Robert Lewandowski and substitute Ferran Torres quickly leveled the score to 2-2, leaving the home crowd in shock.

However, just as the match seemed headed for a close draw in the capital, Lamine Yamal’s long-range shot beat Jan Oblak, sparking wild scenes from the visitors. Torres scored his second goal in added time on a sensational night in a thrilling title race.

A wild night
Lamine Yamal admitted the players were celebrating in the dressing room as he walked out for his post-match interview, beaming at the cameras. Despite his exceptional 11 assists in the league this season, the 17-year-old has not scored in La Liga since October.

Lamine Yamal, confident as ever, said he knew he would find the net when his team needed it most. “I’m very happy with the win. It was a very important game, and getting the three points is the most important thing, so I’m happy,” he said. “Robert’s first goal was important, then Ferran’s because it was the equalizer. Then my goal and Ferran’s fourth came naturally. I knew that if I scored again in La Liga, it would be in an important match. In the end, I don’t care if I don’t score as long as the team wins.”
