Lautaro Martinez, Lionel Messi’s strike partner in the Argentine national team, has revealed insights about his captain.
The Inter Milan forward discussed a recent conversation he and his teammates had with “La Pulga” (The Flea), as Messi is affectionately known.
According to Martinez, the former Barcelona star no longer plays with the sole intention of scoring goals in every match. Recognizing that he is in the twilight of his career, Messi now aims to utilize his passing prowess to benefit players like Lautaro Martinez and others.
Martinez explained that Messi wants to help his younger teammates score goals to boost their confidence for the future, emphasizing that Messi no longer focuses on personal scoring statistics. Instead, he is focused on supporting his team to ensure the Argentine national team continues to thrive after he eventually retires.
“After winning everything during his two-decade career, Messi acknowledges his age and is already preparing for the next generation in the national team,” said the Inter Milan striker.
