Defender Leny Yoro reportedly turned down Real Madrid and has agreed to join Manchester United in a deal worth around £52 million. Last week, Manchester United had an initial offer of £52 million accepted by Lille, and Yoro has made his decision.
Initially preferring a move to Real Madrid, they have shown no indication so far of matching United and Lille’s agreed price.
Manchester United are on the verge of securing Leny Yoro’s signature. His arrival is set to be the club’s second signing this summer, following Joshua Zirkzee’s £36.5 million move from Bologna.
This deal will take the club’s total spending to £95.2 million, with further additions expected as the club looks to offload several squad members. The Red Devils are undergoing a significant defensive overhaul, with the acquisition of Leny Yoro forming part of a broader plan to recruit up to three new central defenders.
The club has already verbally agreed on personal terms with Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich and has seen two bids rejected by Everton for Jarrad Branthwaite.
Manager Erik ten Hag now has five central defensive options, including Jonny Evans, who recently signed a new one-year contract.
However, Lisandro Martinez is unlikely to feature in United’s pre-season schedule due to his international commitments with Argentina at the Copa America.
