Luis Figo, the Portuguese legend and former Real Madrid midfielder, has predicted the potential winners of the ongoing Euro 2024.
Indeed, the Real Madrid icon believes that his country, Portugal, has what it takes to win the competition.
Figo expressed his thoughts ahead of Portugal’s opening match against the Czech Republic on the evening of Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
“Luis Figo picks Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal to win Euro 2024. ‘Portugal has a strong team, with a good balance between very experienced players and younger players who are just starting to make their mark internationally,’ Figo said via The Mirror.
‘Like the World Cup, it will come down to small moments, so it’s always difficult to predict. However, Portugal is one of the five or six teams that can win it. Am I very confident in their ability to win? Why not? I’m really looking forward to seeing how far they can go,’ added the former footballer.
Head coach Roberto Martinez has a star-studded team, including names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, and Rafael Leao.
Anything other than an appearance in the final would be a disappointment for the 2016 champions.
