The Real Madrid player gave a new interview this week in which he had words that won’t please all of his supporters.

In an interview with GQ Hype, the Real Madrid player discussed his club’s current affairs, including the upcoming Champions League final as well as the previous rounds and Toni Kroos’ retirement.

Meeting Zidane: “When I entered the Real locker room for the first time, I thought I was going to meet the players, but no. The first person I saw was Zidane, and it was a big shock for me. I remember trembling a bit when greeting him.”

Kroos’ retirement: “We’re all very sad in the locker room. Sad because he’s leaving football, and we’ll never see him play again. It’s sad news but also a joy to have been able to enjoy him. Even more for me because I played with him and we won a UCL together.”

The veterans: “Our veteran teammates are crazy. Nacho, Modric, Carvajal… They’ve been here for years, and they want to win like on the first day. We feel like they’re passing the torch to us. We feel it, and they also tell us. I think we’re preparing well to take over while already being part of this legend. Real is a legendary club, and I believe the time to assume our role is coming.”

Manchester City: “To be honest, we knew they were better. For me, they’re the best team in the world, playing the best football. So I think the toughest opponent is no longer there, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be easy to win now. We saw it with Bayern, and it’ll also be very tough against Dortmund.”

The final: “They say Real never lose finals, and I hope that continues. I’ve always seen Real win finals. For me, it’s always 50-50. Of course, we’ll always make Real the favorite, but for me, it’s still 50-50.”
