Tuchel agreed in February to part ways with Bayern Munich at the end of the season. The German club will not finish the campaign as Bundesliga champions for the first time since 2012 after Bayer Leverkusen clinched their first title. While Bayern is gearing up for a Champions League semi-final return leg against Real Madrid next week, the club is ignoring protests from supporters who want Tuchel to stay.
This would make the fifty-year-old a relatively inexpensive appointment for United. He remains popular among the Bayern players and has enjoyed a level of success that extends to guiding Chelsea to Champions League glory in 2021 and a Bundesliga title in his first season at the Allianz Arena.
Ten Hag is facing increasing pressure after a season in which United was eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage and failed to qualify for next season’s competition. He has reached the FA Cup final, where United will face their rival Manchester City at Wembley on May 25th.
