This season’s Champions League quarter-finals will feature a double header between Real Madrid and Arsenal. Two matches the former Madrid player is eager to play.

After narrowly defeating Atletico in the previous round, Real Madrid now know their next opponent. Arsenal, who thrashed PSV Eindhoven to reach the quarter-finals (9-3 on aggregate).

There has only been one previous encounter between the London club and Real Madrid, which turned the tide for the Gunners in 2006 against the then-Galacticos. But this time, the teams will be facing off completely differently.

This year, the first leg will take place at the Emirates Stadium on April 8th, and the return leg at the Santiago Bernabéu on the 16th of the same month.

These two matches will be very special for Martin Odegaard, 26, who was signed by Real Madrid 10 years ago. A victim of competition, the player then went on loan before joining Arsenal permanently for €35 million in 2021.

“Of course, these will be two very important matches against Real Madrid, and for me personally, it will be special to play against my former team. We believe in ourselves and we know what we can do,” he told Arsenal’s official media.

“Our performances in the Champions League have been very good, winning seven of our ten matches so far. We’re looking forward to the first leg here at the Emirates Stadium next month. It will be a great evening,” added the Norwegian.
