Kylian Mbappé’s story with his soon-to-be former club is set to end in the worst possible manner. The player is demanding money from PSG.
Officially, until June 30th, Kylian Mbappé belongs to Paris Saint-Germain and is paid by them, making PSG his current employer. This partly explains the low-key announcement from Real Madrid upon his signing and why he has yet to pose with a Real Madrid jersey, which will only be legally possible starting July 1st.
In return, PSG is obligated to honor their agreements with Kylian Mbappé, including paying his wages and bonuses. Last summer, the Frenchman waived his loyalty bonus to return to PSG’s squad and appease a disgruntled Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who was upset to learn Mbappé was leaving permanently.
Mbappé demands €100 million
According to L’Équipe, the conflict between Kylian Mbappé and PSG’s management has taken an unexpected turn. It was revealed weeks ago that PSG had not paid Mbappé’s salaries for April and May, and it appears they will not pay him for June either.
Yesterday, as reported by the French source, the club informed the LFP (French Football League) of the situation, but the new Real Madrid player has no intention of foregoing his last three months’ salaries. He is demanding approximately €100 million from Paris Saint-Germain. Mbappé is relying on Article 259 of the Professional Football Charter to defend his rights.
“Clubs must pay players’ salaries no later than the last day of each month, under ordinary law conditions,” specifies the article. Kylian Mbappé has therefore sent PSG an initial warning, and discussions on this matter are ongoing. One thing is certain: Mbappé is adamant about not relinquishing this money, and he is well within his rights to do so.
