After nine seasons at PSG, Layvin Kurzawa left the Parisian club this summer. The full-back could have departed Paris several years ago, but in 2020, then-sporting director Leonardo extended his contract until 2024.

Today, the former AS Monaco player regrets this decision, especially since he could have joined Manchester United.

This summer is notably marked by Kylian Mbappé’s departure from PSG. The World Cup champion leaves after seven seasons in Paris, but he’s not the only one in this situation. Layvin Kurzawa has also left the capital club, having arrived at PSG from AS Monaco in 2015.

Kurzawa regrets extending at PSG

In an interview with L’Équipe, Layvin Kurzawa reflected on his time at PSG, particularly the challenging recent years. The defender revealed that he now regrets extending his contract by four years in Paris in 2020, when he could have joined Manchester United. “I was poorly advised. I had options but was not informed.

If they had told me about the interest from that club, my dream club (Manchester United), I would have considered it.” The extension was decided by the then-sporting director, Leonardo. Kurzawa barely played for PSG this season
Layvin Kurzawa is only 31 years old and is not ready to retire yet.

The defender hopes to find a new club this summer, but it will be challenging. He has hardly played this season for PSG (only nine minutes in Ligue 1), thus having few opportunities to showcase his skills. However, the full-back still has strong credentials, having played for PSG, AS Monaco, and being a French international. It remains to be seen if a club will take a chance on him.
