Lionel Messi is gradually approaching the end of his professional career. It’s been 20 years since the Pulga began his journey at the highest level, and his body now seems weary. The intensity and agility that were once his trademarks have diminished over time.

Today, Lionel Messi is becoming slower and conserves more energy on the field. Gone are the days of him weaving through opponents over several meters to score incredible goals.

Now, he reserves himself for delivering a single decisive blow to the opponent at the right moment. The player himself is aware that he no longer possesses the abilities he had a decade ago when he was at the peak of his career.

His decision to join the MLS last season, a competition less physically demanding than those in Europe, reflects his current level.

“Sometimes, I really want to dribble past four or more opponents at once like before, but I don’t feel as safe as I used to. It’s a bit frustrating, but as you age, you inevitably have to adjust your style of play,” said the captain of the Argentine national team.
