Luka Modric continues to perform impressively on the pitch, whether with Real Madrid or Croatia.
With 51 matches played this season between club and country, Luka Modric, at nearly 40 years old, is the player who has made the most appearances during the 2024-25 season. The Croatian has been spared injuries so far, thanks to his professionalism and Carlo Ancelotti’s efficient time management.
Indeed, while Luka has played in 44 matches this season, he has “only” 2,087 minutes of play, meaning he averages one half per game. With his country, he has been significantly less protected, having been substituted only twice (77th and 78th minutes) and has consistently started.
Modric talks about his future
Before the return match against France (Croatia’s 2-0 first-leg victory), Luka Modric gave an interview to Téléfoot, which will be broadcast in its entirety this Sunday morning. The French media outlet, however, released a short excerpt in which the Madrid player discusses his future and his contract with Real Madrid, which expires in June.
“Would I think about retiring and leaving Real Madrid? For now, no. I simply said that I would like to retire at Real Madrid, that it would be a dream for me. But we’ll see what happens,” he replied.
“There are still a lot of games left this season. I want to stay focused on what remains to be done, and then we’ll see. I’m not under any pressure about my future,” continued the Croatian, who also insisted that he would continue playing as long as he has that “fire” within him.
Finally, Luka Modric doesn’t speak French but knows “a few swear words” in the language, he admitted with a smile to Téléfoot. The interview will be broadcast this Sunday morning on TF1.
