Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio has signed a new contract with Real Madrid. Reflecting his rise, his salary has been adjusted accordingly.
The Spanish defender is having a dream season in Madrid. A relatively unknown player at the start of the season, he was thrust into the spotlight by Ancelotti following numerous injuries to his first-team position. Far from disappointing, the young Raúl has even convinced everyone that his future lies with Real Madrid’s senior team. His level is such that he has even been compared to a certain Sergio Ramos.
The Real Madrid defender has risen through the ranks at an unusually rapid pace, even being included in De la Fuente’s latest Spanish national team squad. Asensio is a fast central defender, very good in duels and long play, and has a strong character.
These qualities have earned him a nice contract increase, as revealed by Marca. His contract expired in 2026 and he had a €50 million release clause, so signing him to a contract commensurate with his performances was essential. According to Marca, this extension was recently agreed.
Asencio has signed a contract until 2029 and will earn €6.2 million next season, which could reach €9 million with bonuses. With an estimated salary of €840,000 this year, the player will see a pay rise of over 700%. This places him just below Brahim Diaz, but above Fran Garcia and Arda Güler in the club’s pay scale.
This season, the Spaniard has already made 29 appearances for the first team and has become a key player for Ancelotti. Despite Alaba’s return, he started the last Champions League match against Atletico.
