Oliver Kahn, the legend of German football, recently shared his thoughts on the current situation of the German national team’s goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, in an interview with Sport Bild.

The former Bayern Munich president offered advice to the Bavarian keeper on how to stay in top form for crucial matches.

According to Oliver Kahn, Manuel Neuer should consider giving up playing every match in a season to better recharge for the most important games.

The former goalkeeper didn’t hesitate to use his own example from his active career to convince the Bayern Munich captain.

“At the time, I would occasionally give up matches to Michael Rensing to allow myself to regenerate and fully focus on decisive games. Only he can decide how much he wants to play. At his age, it’s not possible to play 50 to 60 matches per season at the highest level. At some point, you have to find the right time to step away. Finding the right timing here is just as demanding as delivering world-class performances over the years,” explained Oliver Kahn.

Manuel Neuer has faced more difficulties in recent seasons than before.

The German goalkeeper also suffered a lengthy injury during the 2022-2023 season, sidelining him for several months.

To alleviate pressure and workload, his former president at Bayern Munich suggests that he take occasional breaks.
