After Riyad Mahrez’s departure, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola is reportedly planning to strengthen his squad with another Algerian player this summer!

Manchester City is in talks with Wolves for a potential summer transfer of Rayan Aït Nouri, according to information obtained by FootballTransfers. At just 22 years old, Aït Nouri has distinguished himself as one of Wolves’ standout players this season, particularly as a left-back, attracting interest from other top Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool. However, the close relationship between Manchester City and the Algerian player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, could give Pep Guardiola’s side an advantage in these negotiations.

The talks between the two clubs have even discussed the possibility of an exchange involving left-back Sergio Gomez, along with a sum of money as compensation. Gomez, who has been sparingly used by Manchester City this season with only 14 appearances in the first team and two Premier League starts since his arrival in 2022 from Anderlecht, is looking to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer to get more playing time.

Although Guardiola has experimented with different options at left-back, including Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake, he seems keen to add a more attacking option to his squad. Aït Nouri fits the bill perfectly and appears to be at the top of Manchester City’s transfer list. While Fulham’s Antonee Robinson is also being considered, Aït Nouri is currently the favorite.

However, Wolves have set a high price for Aït Nouri, valuing him at €70 million. This sum could pose a hurdle in the negotiations, although Manchester City is known for its considerable financial resources.

This potential transfer is crucial for both clubs, as well as for Aït Nouri’s personal aspirations for the upcoming season. If the deal goes through, it could mark a significant turning point in the landscape of the Premier League, further strengthening the competitiveness of the English top-flight.
