Prince William has given his opinion on the eternal debate over who is the best football player of all time: Ronaldo and Messi.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Portuguese and Argentinian icons are often cited as the best to have graced the game, but the debate continues over who should be named the greatest of all time.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Aston Villa fan was asked about his favorite celebration before choosing the best player during a Q&A with Villans defender Tyrone Mings, and named Barcelona legend Messi as his number one.
WHAT PRINCE WILLIAM SAID
During an interview with The Sun about his ideal footballer’s celebration, the prince said: “Well, the most iconic one, I guess, is Cristiano Ronaldo’s.”
When Mings asked him if he had tried to recreate the famous ‘Siu’ celebration in his garden, he replied: “Well, obviously! And then I pull a muscle.”
He was then asked to compare his favorite players, and he settled on Ronaldo versus Messi, choosing the Inter Miami player.
“I have to choose Messi, just,” he said.
WHAT FUTURE FOR RONALDO & MESSI?
Messi has not played in Inter Miami’s last three matches but will be available for their Champions Cup match against Cavalier in Jamaica this week. Ronaldo and his Al-Nassr teammates will face Al-Kholood in the Saudi Pro League on Friday.
