During the month of February, Kylian Mbappé finalized his departure from PSG at the end of his contract next June. Initially placed in the ranks of the undesirable at the beginning of the season, the number 7 reportedly secured his reinstatement by promising to extend his stay in Paris.
However, this information has been contested by the 25-year-old star’s camp. Here’s the explanation.
Kylian Mbappé’s future is decided. With his PSG contract expiring on June 30th, the French forward will not continue his journey in the capital. Everything indicates for several weeks now that Mbappé will join Real Madrid. This conclusion marks the end of a seemingly endless saga for Paris, reignited since last summer. In June 2023, the number 7 informed the club through a letter that he wouldn’t extend his contract until 2025, using a clause within his current deal. Mbappé reportedly promised to extend at PSG.
Consequently, PSG management relegated the Frenchman to the loft reserved for undesirable players. Mbappé then missed the first match of the season against Lorient (0-0) but was nevertheless reintegrated into the squad that same evening. Some media outlets mentioned a tentative agreement between the Parisian star and president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. This Saturday, Foot Mercato dropped a bombshell by claiming that Mbappé had been reinstated after promising the club that he would sign a new contract in Paris.
A Mbappé associate denies this information. However, Mbappé’s camp quickly refuted this claim from Foot Mercato, through Bilel Ghazi, a close friend of Fayza Lamari, the player’s mother. “Beyond your string of false truths, what’s troubling about this one is its timing, which raises questions about your motivation and that of those dictating to you, who regret/fear not performing as well… PSG and its end of the season deserve better than this…,” wrote the individual handling the number 7’s communication on their X account (formerly Twitter) this Saturday.
