Accustomed to regularly changing coaches, has the Qatar-era PSG set the same fate for Luis Enrique following the disappointing elimination against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League semi-finals? Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, irritated by a journalist’s question on this topic, inadvertently revealed the future of his Spanish coach.

PSG suffered another major disappointment in the Champions League on Tuesday night, falling in the semi-final return leg against Borussia Dortmund (losing 1-0, the same as in the first leg). But should we expect Luis Enrique to be dismissed, who was appointed last summer to the PSG bench with a contract running until 2025? Al-Khelaïfi evaluates the situation.

Questioned in the mixed zone after the match, President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi shared his thoughts on the Champions League elimination: “We are very disappointed with the result. We are sad, of course, and I think we deserved better. In total, we hit the post four times, last week twice… The ball just didn’t want to go in. It’s tough, but the players and the coach gave their all, and so did the fans. It was an evening where we could have won and qualified, but congratulations to Dortmund. I think we deserved better,” initially explained the PSG executive.

“Luis Enrique? What kind of question is that?” Later, when a journalist followed up by asking if Luis Enrique would still be the coach of PSG next season, Al-Khelaïfi was blunt in his response: “What kind of question is that? Honestly. Do you understand football?”. Clearly, PSG will not be changing coaches this summer and will continue with Luis Enrique next year.
