Winner of the Player of the Season award at the UNFP Trophies, Kylian Mbappé thanked PSG during the ceremony and kept the speculation about his future club alive.
Monday night, the UNFP Trophies ceremony took place at the Pavillon d’Armenonville (Paris), and the main attraction was undoubtedly Kylian Mbappé (25). The all-time leading scorer for Paris Saint-Germain had announced his departure a few days earlier in a lengthy message on his social media and was celebrated during this event, where he was notably elected as the best player of the season in Ligue 1, for the fifth consecutive year.
In his speech, PSG’s number 7 once again confirmed that he would be leaving Ligue 1: “Leaving tears my heart because I have never left my country. Before being players, we are men, and this profession does not always allow you to express everything you think. It’s just a 25-year-old guy who enjoyed all these years, who has completed the circle. In Ligue 1, I have always felt loved, and it’s a pleasant feeling.”
Kylian Mbappé remains silent on his new club
However, Mbappé continued to avoid linking his name to that of Real Madrid. In the mixed zone, after the ceremony, he first dodged the question from several Spanish journalists asking if everything was settled with the Madrid club. But shortly after, he admitted that the question of his new club “was not the subject.” “In life, you have to take time for each thing. The only thing to know is that I am leaving PSG. The rest, maybe it’s not the time to know,” he said.
According to the Madrid press, Real Madrid could announce the signing of Kylian Mbappé in just a few days, after the Champions League final (June 1) and before the start of Euro 2024, on June 14. But before that, Kylian Mbappé still has three matches to play with Paris Saint-Germain, against Nice (Wednesday), Metz, for the final day of Ligue 1 (May 19), and against Lille, for the Coupe de France final against Lyon (May 25).
