Kylian Mbappé’s future is becoming clearer day by day. He will leave PSG at the end of the season, heading towards Real Madrid.

His departure naturally brings thoughts to his younger brother, Ethan Mbappé, who is also at PSG. However, Ethan has already made a decision about his own future.

It appears certain that Kylian Mbappé will soon depart Paris Saint-Germain, a widely reported piece of information across European media outlets. According to these sources, the French international has informed his teammates and the management of his departure at the end of the season, upon the expiration of his contract.

Kylian Mbappé, a departure already confirmed

The Madrid press, notably the newspaper AS, is already discussing a possible contract extension until 2030 for the 25-year-old player. Financially, Real Madrid is expected to offer him a salary lower than what he currently earns in Paris, estimated at around €72 million gross per year. According to information from AS, Madrid’s executives are seeking the best financial solution, while the Mbappé camp is reportedly aiming for a minimum salary of €50 million gross per year.

Frédéric Hermel, a Spanish football expert for RMC Sport, emphasized on Thursday evening’s After Foot program that nothing is yet signed, and negotiations are underway. He noted that Mbappé’s salary at Madrid would be approximately three times lower than what he earns at PSG, while also highlighting that his image rights earnings would significantly increase if he joins Real. Additionally, factors such as a signing bonus, the amount of which is yet to be determined, and various performance-related bonuses need to be taken into account.

For example, winning the Ballon d’Or or clinching the Golden Boot could entitle him to financial bonuses. In 2022, Spanish media reported that Real paid Karim Benzema around €1 million after his Ballon d’Or win. Although details regarding the bonuses Mbappé could receive are yet to be finalized (estimated between €100 million and €150 million), this separation seems to be cordial. According to L’Équipe, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi had always hoped for an extension, but in recent weeks, he has begun to resign himself to the situation.

Ethan Mbappé wants to stay at PSG

He has already started communicating internally about the need to prepare a grand farewell ceremony at the end of the season. Nevertheless, it is essential to pay tribute to the all-time leading scorer of PSG (243 goals in 209 matches). So, if Kylian Mbappé leaves, what will become of Ethan Mbappé, his brother? Well, according to several sources such as Le Parisien, it seems unlikely that he will follow the 2018 World Cup winner.

Indeed, the player is said to have expressed his desire to continue his journey with the Ligue 1 leaders. Coach Luis Enrique is said to have discussed the matter with the young talent. “And you, Ethan, do you consider leaving next summer?” the Spaniard reportedly asked. “No, I’m a Titi, I stay at PSG!” the midfielder is said to have responded, indicating that he has no intention of following his brother. Furthermore, a contract extension is reportedly being discussed in Paris, and the capital club is counting on him for the future.

It is not yet certain that Mbappé will join Real Madrid at the end of his contract. However, it is known that the Parisian striker has a great affection for the club, and this affection is mutual. An agreement between the two parties is reportedly close to being concluded. No other club has initiated negotiations with Fayza Lamari. Thus, like the Hernandez brothers, Ethan and Kylian’s destinies are likely to be played out in different clubs next season.
