Vincent Labrune, president of the Professional Football League (LFP), paid a heartfelt tribute to Kylian Mbappé during the UNFP Awards ceremony. On this occasion, he took the time to celebrate the exceptional career of the PSG forward.
Mbappé, who recently announced his departure from Paris before the 33rd matchday of Ligue 1, was commended by Labrune for his remarkable seven seasons in Paris and his spectacular rise at AS Monaco. Labrune discussed the entirety of the “Kid from Bondy’s” Ligue 1 career, highlighting his indelible impact on the French championship.
Vincent Labrune made an emotional request for Kylian Mbappé to return to Ligue 1.
“What I remember is not just that Kylian is leaving. What I hold on to most is that Kylian stayed seven years ago after an already fantastic year at AS Monaco. He could have chosen to leave, but he chose to stay in Ligue 1 for seven years to make PSG and Ligue 1 shine, to illuminate France and bring stars to the eyes of our children.
For all these magical moments, these unique instances, these little and great emotions, Kylian, I wanted to warmly thank you on behalf of French football.” Vincent Labrune then made a special request:
to return one day to Ligue 1 to continue his journey. “You will live your life, your dreams elsewhere and I sincerely wish you to achieve them. But what I wish for us all collectively, is that you come back to us in France, to your home in Ligue 1 because the story is not over. I sincerely hope to see you one day again on our fields.”
