Gianluigi Donnarumma delivered a standout performance on Thursday evening for the Italian national team, despite their defeat against Spain. Alvaro Morata, however, showered praise on the Italian goalkeeper, whom PSG is reportedly seeking to extend, according to recent reports.

Facing Spain in Italy’s second match of Euro 2024 in Germany, Gianluigi Donnarumma made numerous saves but couldn’t prevent his team’s 0-1 loss in the clash. His performance for PSG was widely applauded after the match, even by his opponents.

“One of the best goalkeepers in the world”

Speaking to Sky, Alvaro Morata particularly praised Gianluigi Donnarumma: “Did we miss too many chances tonight? No. It’s just that Italy has one of the best goalkeepers in the world. A last line of defense with incredible qualities,” said the Spanish striker. A fitting tribute that certainly hasn’t escaped PSG, who are keen on securing the future of their goalkeeper.

Extension in sight at PSG?

Indeed, as previously reported by Sky Italia in early May and corroborated by RMC Sport, PSG is actively working internally to secure a contract extension for Donnarumma, currently committed until 2026 at the Parc des Princes. Watch this space…
