After a season start plagued by injuries, Arda Güler is turning everything around at Real Madrid. With 4 goals in 275 minutes of play, the Turkish player’s recent performance in La Liga is nothing short of impressive.
Carlo Ancelotti had called for patience with Arda Güler, and it’s becoming clear that time has proven him right. Hindered by injuries since his arrival last summer, the 18-year-old Turkish international could only make his debut for Madrid in January. It was a long journey, but one from which he emerged rejuvenated. Joining his dream club, Güler was well aware of the intense competition he would face, but ultimately, it’s always the performance on the field that speaks.
By focusing on hard work and disregarding everything said or written about him in recent months, the former Fenerbahçe player has carved out a place in the Madrid squad. And with a hunger for success, he approaches each game with the ambition to convince his coach Carlo Ancelotti. After scoring his first goal in La Liga against Celta Vigo at the end of March – in just 2 minutes of play – Güler has hit top form. With 3 goals in his last 4 matches, he’s been instrumental in bringing Madrid closer to their season objective.
While Madrid was already virtually certain to clinch the league title by the end of April, Güler has further solidified his club’s position. Against Real Sociedad (1-0) on April 26th, he scored the only goal of the game. With vitality, flair, and efficiency, he’s earned praise from the Madrid press, which had been harsh on him until now. Last weekend against Granada (4-0), Güler once again showcased his talent by scoring his 3rd league goal before repeating the feat last night.
Coming on for Eduardo Camavinga in the 60th minute during the derby against Alavés (5-0), Güler needed just 20 minutes to make an impact once more. Seizing on a defensive error, the left-footer beat Owono at his near post. With 4 goals in 275 minutes (averaging 1 goal every 68 minutes), Güler’s performance in La Liga this season is more than commendable. “We love him a lot. The entire team, the entire staff appreciates him greatly. He’s the youngest in the team, he has a gift. He scores goals even when he shouldn’t, the ball loves Arda, that’s clear. We’re very happy he’s here and that he can be here in the future,” praised Carlo Ancelotti about his player after the match. This praise should deter any potential suitors this summer…
