Real Madrid has announced that it has no intention of not participating in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in the United States, which is an official competition.

Real Madrid denies that it will not participate in the 2025 Club World Cup, as Carlo Ancelotti had announced in an interview with “Il Giornale.”

In a recent interview, the Real Madrid coach hinted that his club would refuse to participate in the competition scheduled for the summer of 2025. “FIFA can forget about it. The players and clubs will not participate in this tournament. One Real Madrid match is worth 20 million euros, and FIFA wants to give us that amount for the entire competition. It’s a no-go. Like us, other clubs will also refuse the invitation,” read the interview given by the coach to the media outlet Il Giornale.

Given the uproar caused by the Italian’s remarks in the media, Real Madrid has broken its silence and declared via a statement that at no time did it question its participation in this official tournament.

Real Madrid’s statement: “Real Madrid C. F. communicates that at no time has its participation in the new Club World Cup organized by FIFA for the upcoming 2024/2025 season been called into question. Therefore, our club will participate, as planned, in this official competition that we approach with pride and the greatest enthusiasm to once again inspire our millions of fans worldwide with a new title.”

Ancelotti backtracks: Almost in unison, Carlo Ancelotti posted a message on X to correct his interview in the Italian press and his statements about the FIFA Club World Cup: “In my interview with Il Giornale, my remarks about the FIFA Club World Cup were not interpreted as I intended. Nothing could be further from my interest than rejecting the possibility of participating in a tournament that I consider a great opportunity to continue fighting for major titles with Real Madrid.” A strange change of heart from the coach…
