The President of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, will have to pay a whopping 8 million euros to an English club following his team’s triumph in the Champions League.

Indeed, the loan contract of Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, includes a clause that obliges the Madrid club to pay 8 million euros to the Blues in case of winning the Champions League.

This has now come to pass since the Madrid club emerged victorious on June 1, 2024, against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final.

Chelsea will thus receive 8 million euros from Real Madrid and Florentino Pérez, boosting its coffers somewhat.

In 2022, the London club had already earned 10 million euros in a similar operation on the sale contract of Eden Hazard.

The Belgian, who left the Blues for the Madrid club in 2019, had a contract clause stating that Real Madrid would pay a sum of 10 million euros to Chelsea if the Spaniards won the Champions League. This was the case in 2022 when Eden Hazard was still at Real Madrid, and the club was obliged to pay the bonus.

This season, Chelsea is not the only club benefiting from such bonuses from Real Madrid.

Borussia Dortmund, the club against whom Real Madrid played the Champions League final, was in the same situation.

The sale of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid included a bonus clause in case of winning the Champions League.
