A big revelation of the season at Real Madrid, young Raúl Asencio has seen his market value explode in recent months.
Raúl Asencio’s trajectory is undoubtedly one that every youngster at the Madrid youth academy dreams of. Called up and then selected by Ancelotti to deal with the numerous injuries in defense, the Castilla player quickly impressed with his maturity and skill.
So much so that he was chosen over David Alaba, despite being in playing condition, for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Atletico Madrid. In the previous round, the youngster had already brilliantly risen to the challenge of marking City striker Erling Haaland.
A meteoric rise that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Spanish national team, as Luis de la Fuente has given him his first call-up to La Roja for this international break.
The specialist website Transfermarkt also took into account the 22-year-old defender’s career progression. By the end of December 2024, his value had risen from €300,000 to €7.5 million.
Three months later, the site’s latest update revealed that the player was valued at €30 million. This means that since the end of June 2024, Asencio’s value has simply increased… by a factor of 100.
A testament to the Spaniard’s rise, within the Real Madrid squad, Raúl Asencio is now the 12th-highest market value player, with his €30 million eclipsing some of his teammates such as Ferland Mendy (€18 million), Rüdiger (€24 million), Fran Garcia (€15 million), and Dani Ceballos (€10 million).
