French international Aurélien Tchouameni has decided to spend his vacation in Senegal before returning to Madrid to join Real Madrid’s preparations for the new 2024-2025 season.
Freshly eliminated with the French team from contention for the Euro 2024 title, the Cameroonian-origin midfielder chose Senegal as a destination to relax after a challenging season with Real Madrid.
“Yesterday, I went to Touba. I also know Casamance. Krépin Diatta talked to me about it, Ismail Jakobs when I was at Monaco. I have many Senegalese friends who have spoken highly of the country. I hope to have time to visit Saly. Dakar is a superb city, in a magnificent country,” he said in a statement to the Senegalese press. “I have also made investments here that can help the country develop. I came to see how everything is going. And I came to see the Senegalese youth to answer some questions, try to inspire them,” he continued.

Born in France to Cameroonian parents, the former Monaco player was repeatedly approached to represent the “Indomitable Lions” but ultimately chose the “Bleus.”
A significant loss for the Cameroonian national team, which let slip one of the world’s best defensive midfielders, valued at €100 million on Transfermarkt.
At 24 years old, Aurélien Tchouameni has 36 caps for the French team, with 3 goals and a single assist to his name.
