Real Madrid is gearing up for a busy few weeks. While the Merengues still have two La Liga matches to play as well as a Champions League final before closing out an exceptional year, the Madrid leaders are busy behind the scenes preparing for the transfer market.

While many were eager to see Alphonso Davies don the white jersey next season, the track leading to the Canadian seems to have hit a snag.

Despite an impressive season, Real Madrid is expected to be very active in the transfer market this summer. While Kylian Mbappé is set to, barring an extraordinary turn of events, join Santiago Bernabéu in the coming weeks, other high-caliber players are rumored to be in the sights of the Merengues.

This is notably the case with Alphonso Davies, who has been linked with the Casa Blanca for several months now. While many rumors suggested a player ready to clash with Bayern Munich to join Vinicius and his teammates, it seems that Davies has decided to take a different path.

Davies deems Real’s interest too low

Alphonso Davies is unlikely to join the club against which he scored in the Champions League semi-final this season. Christian Falk, a journalist for BILD, explains that the Bayern Munich left-back is not impressed by Real Madrid’s efforts to sign him. To the point that he is now considering continuing his German adventure, at least for another season.

Ferland Mendy has changed the game

While a logjam seemed to be forming on the left side of Real Madrid’s defense, with Fran García already backing up Ferland Mendy and the Merengues having the option to buy Miguel Gutiérrez, who had a good season at Girona, the Frenchman has changed the equation. According to Christian Falk, Mendy’s excellent season has convinced the Madrid leaders to settle for him. Carlo Ancelotti is also said to have weighed in on the decision.
