Brazilian international Rodrygo Goes has revealed the most difficult defender he’s faced since the beginning of his professional football career.
The Real Madrid winger chose a player whose name many people didn’t expect to hear.
For Rodrygo, the most difficult defender he’s faced during his career is Ecuadorian international Pervis Estupinan.
The latter plays as a left-back. He currently plays in the Premier League for Brighton, ranked seventh in the league.
Rodrygo Goes and Pervis Estupinan faced each other several times in the Spanish league when the Ecuadorian was still playing in La Liga.
Before landing in England, he played for Villarreal between 2020 and 2022, and it was in that club that he gave the Brazilian a lot of trouble.
Even years after his departure from the Spanish league, the former Santos player still remembers his duels with Estupinan.
Tonic, lively, and very skillful, the former Granada and Osasuna player is very unstoppable on the wing and often leads very sharp duels against his opponents.
“The toughest defender I’ve ever faced in my career? It was Pervis Estupinan when he played for Villarreal.
He was really strong, strong, and fast. I really struggled to outpace him,” the Real Madrid striker revealed about the Ecuadorian.
