The French team has another big match with a European giant this Tuesday night. After edging out Portugal on penalties in the quarter-finals, Les Bleus are set to face Spain in the semi-finals.

Widely regarded as the strongest team in the tournament since the beginning, La Roja has been impressive. Dani Olmo, speaking at a press conference ahead of this clash, shared his analysis of the French team.

Spain announce a threat with Mbappé!

The French team still believes in victory. Having consecutively eliminated Belgium and Portugal, Les Bleus now face Spain. La Roja, on their part, managed to defeat the host nation Germany in extra time. Ahead of this anticipated encounter, Dani Olmo was at the press conference. The RB Leipzig player painted a picture of the French team, highlighting what he sees as their main threats. “If they’ve reached the semi-finals, it’s thanks to their merits.”

While the French team has faced considerable criticism, particularly regarding the less spectacular style of play under Didier Deschamps, Dani Olmo did not discuss their lack of scoring success against opponents. The Spaniard preferred to emphasize the strengths of Les Bleus: “France is a very good team, and if they’ve reached the semi-finals, it’s thanks to their merits and not by surprise. We know what their players are capable of. We need to focus on their individual technical quality, but in general, I think we should concentrate on what we do. We are in a very good dynamic, playing well, so we need to continue.”

“Mbappé is a player who makes differences.”

Dani Olmo then explained who he believes are the main threats on the French side. The attacking midfielder highlighted Kylian Mbappé, who hasn’t been at his best since the start of the tournament, as France’s number one asset. But the Real Madrid player noted that Mbappé isn’t the only one capable of making a difference for the team from Terrassa: “Mbappé is a player who makes differences and we need to be cautious, but they also have destabilizing players like Dembélé, Griezmann, Kanté who is having a very good tournament, Rabiot… All those who play in these more offensive positions need to be considered, but we will be prepared.”
