The La Liga president returned to the fray, raising the issue of rest periods and the Real Madrid president’s involvement in the Olmo affair.
The issue of the schedule and rest periods for clubs competing in European competitions is a hot topic in Spain. Ancelotti complained about having only 72 hours of rest between some matches and assured that Real Madrid would no longer play under these conditions.
Javier Tebas, La Liga president and vice-president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, once again spoke out on the subject. Via his social media, he emphasized that the problem of playing with less than 72 hours of rest has affected all teams in Europe for over a decade.
But Tebas also referred to the Real Madrid president, this time referring to the precautionary measures granted to FC Barcelona for the recordings of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, also stating, as revealed yesterday, that Florentino Perez had intervened on behalf of Barça in this matter.
Tebas’s message
“Faced with so much debate over schedules, two thoughts:
For more than 14 years, since European competitions have been held on Thursdays, clubs across Europe, including Spain, have been playing on Sundays without a 72-hour gap between matches.
No CSD spokesperson will deny the report that FP (Florentino Pérez) intervened before the CSD to have FC Barcelona’s appeal accepted. And be careful, because he himself commented on the matter during the Super Cup final, according to reports. If this is true, we would be facing a very serious situation.”
