Vinicius Jr.’s future is still a hot topic. The Brazilian, who is in talks with the Whites for a contract extension, plans to include a special clause in his new contract.
Vinicius Jr. has left Madrid for a few days. Selected for Brazil to face Colombia (March 21) and Argentina (March 24), the striker is fully focused on the matches counting towards the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. In the absence of Neymar Jr., all eyes will once again be on him during this international break. But in Spain, the former Flamengo player is also being watched very closely. More than his upcoming performances with the Seleção, it’s his future that’s the talk of the town this Thursday. More, one might be tempted to say.
Indeed, for several months now, the Vini Jr. case has been the talk of the town. It all started last summer when Al-Hilal was looking for a superstar to lure into their nets while Neymar Jr. languished in the infirmary. The Madrid player’s name was pulled out of the hat. There was even talk of an XXL offer of over €1 billion and a 5-year contract. Dizzying figures that could have made the main interested party dizzy and think twice. While the Merengues quickly closed the door, the player, who is under contract until 2027, and his representatives didn’t rule anything out. Ultimately, Vini Jr. remained in the Spanish capital.
An extension soon to be finalized
This hasn’t stopped the Saudis from regularly contacting him. But the Brazilian has spoken out publicly to put an end to all this. “I’m very calm because I have a contract until 2027, and I hope to renew it as soon as possible. I’m happy here. Everyone loves and appreciates me very much. I couldn’t be in a better place than here,” he admitted at a press conference on March 8. Since then, he has made numerous similar statements. This hasn’t gone down well in Saudi Arabia.
An official source from the Saudi league told 365 Scores: “The Saudi league’s recruitment committee is dismayed by Vinicius’s statements. Despite all these difficulties, the recruitment committee is looking to present a new offer in the upcoming summer market. The door is still open for Vinicius.” And it seems that it is not completely closed. This Thursday, Sport revealed new information on the subject. The Spanish media outlet confirmed that the Vini Jr. clan and the Madrid players are indeed discussing an extension of his contract, presumably until 2028.
An exit clause for Vini Jr.
The White House management took advantage of the player’s agents’ visit during the Champions League match against Atlético Madrid to resume negotiations, which are entering a decisive phase, according to Sport. Everyone is in agreement, and a few details remain to be resolved. Regarding his salary, it will be slightly increased, but this will not upset the balance in the dressing room or create jealousy with other stars, such as Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham.
While all the lights seem to be green, Sport has nevertheless provided some important clarification. Indeed, we have learned that the Vini Jr clan, who are aware that the club intends to rely on KM9 and Bellingham in the future, want to include a special clause in his new contract to provide an exit option, potentially to Saudi Arabia, which could satisfy the player and Florentino Pérez’s club in the future. Discussions are continuing, but Real Madrid wants to quickly secure their player, who will therefore keep an exit option if his request for a clause is accepted by Real Madrid, who want to close his file by the end of the 2024-25 season.
