He has been one of the revelations of Euro 2024, shining after a successful season with surprise package Bologna in Italy. Among the new faces introduced by Luciano Spalletti at the start of Euro 2024, Calafiori has stood out notably. The Bologna defender has taken charge alongside Alessandro Bastoni in Italy’s defense, delivering solid performances, notably against Albania (2-1).
Despite his young age, Calafiori has played with the assurance of a veteran, showcasing the qualities that have already established him as one of Serie A’s top performers in his position.

Currently contracted to Bologna until June 2027, Calafiori is valued at €50 million. Juventus has also expressed interest but may reconsider due to the high asking price. Real Madrid faces stiff competition, with Arsenal and Tottenham reportedly undeterred by the fee. Calafiori’s impressive season stats include two goals and six assists in 40 appearances across all competitions. His performances have put him in the spotlight internationally, with clubs across Europe now aware of his talent.
As former Bologna coach Thiago Motta heads to Juventus, there’s speculation Calafiori could follow. However, with Real Madrid in the mix, the transfer dynamics could change significantly. Juventus had seemed favorites, but Calafiori’s standout displays have altered the landscape, now pegging his transfer fee around €40 million.
With Juventus having previously paid €50 million for Bremer two years ago, Bologna must also consider a 40% sell-on clause owed to Calafiori’s former club, FC Basel.
