During the summer of 2017, PSG snatched Neymar from FC Barcelona by paying his €222 million buyout clause. Two years later, Barcelona got their revenge. While PSG aimed to secure the services of Frenkie de Jong, it was ultimately the Catalan club that sealed the deal.

Impressive in the colors of FC Barcelona, Neymar caught the attention of PSG’s Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. In fact, the Parisian club did what was necessary to secure the transfer of the Brazilian star, triggering his €222 million buyout clause in the summer of 2017.

PSG stole Neymar from FC Barcelona. Two years later, FC Barcelona managed to get back at PSG. According to L’Equipe’s information, the capital club tried everything to finalize the signing of Frenkie de Jong in the summer of 2019. However, the Dutch midfielder snubbed PSG to join Barcelona.

Barcelona beat PSG to De Jong. As recalled by L’Equipe, FC Barcelona officially announced the transfer of Frenkie de Jong on January 23, 2019. Yet, Jordi Mestre – former vice president of Barça – revealed that the 26-year-old player had signed on December 27, 2018. The Catalan club thus let PSG hope for nearly a month, even though the deal had already been sealed.
