At Bayern Munich, the current season is a nightmare. So mediocre, in fact, that the management are planning to make some major changes. Thomas Tuchel’s future, for example, is at the center of attention. He could be replaced by Zinedine Zidane, according to the Italian press.

Thomas Tuchel’s days at Bayern Munich are clearly numbered. After his team’s recent 2-3 defeat by Bochum at the weekend, the German coach looks unlikely to stay on despite a contract that runs until 2025. Bayern currently occupy second place in the Bundesliga standings, eight points behind Bayer Leverkusen, and look set to lose the throne they have held since 2013.

Some teams would start to worry after three consecutive defeats, but for others, a series of setbacks is considered one of the worst crises in their history. Bayern Munich fall into the latter category, all the more so after Sunday’s 3-2 defeat by Bochum set off alarm bells.

The situation is all the more worrying given that Bayer Leverkusen are showing no signs of weakness and are now heading straight for the Bundesliga title, a title Bayern have dominated relentlessly since the 2012-2013 season. Clearly, this would be a major upset on the other side of the Rhine, especially as the Bavarians are also struggling in the Champions League. It’s now clear to all that the post-Nagelsmann period has been difficult to manage, but Thomas Tuchel seems to be making things worse.
